Prof. Tim Hunt has won numerous prizes and awards, most remarkably he received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2001 for his discovery of Cyclins - proteins, which control the division of cells by being produced/degraded in an oscillating fashion. This discovery was a fundamental contribution to our understanding of how the cells divide.
